聖言中學頒獎典禮 2023 Sing Yin Secondary School Prize Giving Ceremony 2023
本年度頒獎典禮已於十二月八日假本校禮堂舉行。是次典禮有幸邀請家庭與學校合作事宜委員會主席方奕展先生擔任主禮嘉賓，其他嘉賓包括校監張神父、列位校董、黃校長、家長教師會主席、校友會主席、以及三位副校長。方先生致辭時感謝家長與教師對學生的幫助及支持，又寄寓聖言仔成為社會的棟樑。
是次典禮共頒發逾四百多個獎項。其中，黎偉傑先生獲得本年度傑出校友獎。黎校友為香港橋牌代表隊成員，於二零二三年杭州亞運會勇奪團體賽金牌。黎校友致辭時感激母校之悉心栽培，現在不時回校教授師弟們橋牌技藝。得到師兄的指導，中三的鍾凱程、蔡銘灝、許凱軒、馮正昊和郭源同學亦代表香港出戰，於第十八屆世界橋牌青年錦標賽榮獲第十名。
除此之外，本校學生於學術、音樂、體育等範圍均有優秀表現，例如中一的馬達華、陳顥峯、高子軒、關梓匡、吳熹成及蕭卓峰同學獲得聯合國可持續發展目標英文辯論比賽中一組冠軍；中六的陳彥銘同學在全國青少年信息學奧林匹克聯賽取得一等獎；管樂團、弦樂團均獲得聯校音樂大賽金獎；田徑隊獲得校際田徑比賽（第二組別）男子乙組4x400米接力冠軍；手球隊獲得校際手球比賽（第二組別）乙組冠軍。
為表揚於體育方面取得突破成績之同學，本校每年均會頒發最傑出運動員獎。本年初級組得獎者為中二吳昊豐同學，高級組為中五唐智毅同學。至於學術方面，中一吳嘉祺同學、中二張禮堯同學、中三阮卓峰同學、中四陳浩賢同學、中五張永約同學分別在各級取得全年總成績第一名。恭喜以上各得獎者。
獎項頒發完畢後，本校跳繩隊帶來精彩的表演。跳繩隊在今年分別獲得全港學界跳繩比賽冠軍及校際花式跳繩錦標賽冠軍。隊員們在台上展現出驚人的實力，接連做出數個花式動作，十足的功架引起台下不少的歡呼聲。
最後，嘉賓、來賓以及同學起立同唱校歌，頒獎典禮在朗朗的校歌聲中落幕。再次感謝各位來賓撥冗出席，亦恭喜所有得獎者。以上獎項未能盡錄，期望同學們能繼續發揮所長，不論是在校內還是校外都能獲得更多的佳績。
This year's Prize Giving Ceremony was held on December 8 in our school hall. Mr Eugene Fong Yick-jin, Chairman of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation, was invited to be the Guest of Honour of the Ceremony. Other guests included our school supervisor, Fr. Zhang, members of the Incorporated Management Committee of the school, Principal Wong, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association, Chairman of the Alumni Association, and the three Vice-Principals. In his speech, Mr. Fong thanked the parents and teachers for their help and support to the students, and conveyed the message that our students should become the pillars of society in the future.
More than 400 awards were presented at the ceremony. Among them, Mr. Lai Wai Kit received the Outstanding Alumni Award. Mr. Lai is a member of the Hong Kong Bridge Team and won the gold medal in the team competition at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. In his speech, Mr. Lai expressed his gratitude to his alma mater for its nurturing, and now he comes back to the school from time to time to teach Sing Yin boys the techniques of the bridge. Under the guidance of Mr Lai, Form 3 students Chung Henderson, Cai Ming Ho, Hui Hoi Hin, Fung Ching Ho and Kwok Yuen represented Hong Kong and won 10th place in the 18th World Bridge Youth Championships.
In addition, our students had outstanding performance in academic, music and sports domains, for example, Form 1 students Anane Mawutor David, Chan Ho Fung, Ko Shuan, Kwan Tsz Hong, Ng Hei Shing and Siu Cheuk Fung won the Champion in the Secondary EMI Form 1 Division in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Debating Competition. Form 6 student Chan Yin Ming won the First-class Honours in the National Olympiad in Informatics in Provinces. The Brass Band and String Band also won the Gold Award in the Joint School Music Competition; The Athletics Team won the Champion in the Boys B grade 4x400M Relay in Inter-School Athletics Competition (Division 2); and the Handball Team won the Champion in B Grade in the Inter-School Handball Competition (Division 2).
In order to honour our students who have achieved outstanding results in sports, we present the Most Outstanding Athlete Award every year. This year's winners were Ng Ho Fung from Form 2 and Tong Chi Ngai from Form 5. Academically, Ng Ka Ki from Form 1, Cheung Lai Yiu from Form 2, Yuen Cheuk Fung from Form 3, Chan Ho Yin from Form 4 and Cheung Wing Yeuk from Form 5 achieved first place in their respective forms. Congratulations to the above winners.
After the presentation of awards, our Rope Skipping Team gave a brilliant performance. The team won the Champion in the All Hong Kong Inter-School Rope Skipping Competition and the Champion in the Inter-school Rope Skipping Championship. The team members showed their amazing skills on the stage and performed numerous tricks one after another, which aroused much cheers from the audience.
At the end of the ceremony, the guests and students rose and sang the school song together, and the ceremony came to an end with the sound of the school song. Once again, we would like to thank all the guests for attending the ceremony and congratulate all the winners. The above awards are not exhaustive. We hope that our students will continue to make the best of their talents, both inside and outside the school.
中一班際運動攀登比賽 Inter Class Sport Climbing Competition
2023-24年度中一班際運動攀登比賽已順利完成，超過二十位同學參加。經過一輪比試，中一乙班嬴得本次比賽冠軍。恭喜得獎班別。
The 2023-24 Inter Class Sport Climbing Competition was held successfully. It was the first attempt after the wall was renovated recently. More than 20 Form 1 boys joined the event, and 1B got the Championship. Congratulations to the winners !
聖言中學水運會 2023-2024 Sing Yin Secondary School Swimming Gala 2023-2024
本年度聖言水運會已於10月17日在觀塘游泳池順利舉行。
四社的運動健兒在比賽場上各展所長，除了各項泳式比賽及師生接力等項目外，是日亦舉行了最受關注的社際接力賽。最終，甲組的社際接力冠軍由綠社奪得，乙組以及丙組的冠軍則由藍社奪得。在社際接力賽進行得如火如荼時，看台上四社的啦啦隊亦不忘為自己所屬的社打氣。經過一眾老師評審後，黃社繼陸運會之後再次取得啦啦隊冠軍的寶座。至於甲、乙、丙組的個人全場總冠軍分別由6B潘顯聲、2A霍霜雩以及 2E陳泓靖奪得，他們三位都是綠社社員，眾望所歸，全場總冠軍當然由綠社奪得。
是次陸運會展現了聖言仔不屈不撓、勇於拼搏的體育精神，亦可見各社的師兄師弟上下一心。恭喜所有得獎同學及社，亦感謝老師和工作人員為水運會作出莫大貢獻。期待同學明年能於水運會上再次揮灑熱血，勇奪佳績！
The Sing Yin Pioneer Inauguration Ceremony was held on the 22nd of September. Before the ceremony began, our vice principal Mrs. Kwok explained to us the meaning of the word ‘pioneer’, which means ‘leaders among peers’ and also ‘friends of new members of our school’. Pioneers don’t have the authority of school prefects, nor do they make people feel distanced. Every pioneer has a huge amount of caring and love for our form 1 students.
After the ceremony had begun, pioneers from last year, wearing sky blue uniforms were first to go onstage. They took photos with teachers and Mrs. Kwok, leaving behind valuable memories. After that, the new Sing Yin Pioneers, wearing their dark green uniforms, symbolizing livelihood, went onstage. Under the witness of teachers and form 1 students, they swore an oath to fulfill their responsibilities. The ceremony was finished after that.
The Sing Yin Swimming Gala of this year was successfully held on October 17th at the Kwun Tong Swimming Pool.
The athletes of the four houses showcased their best talents in numerous competitions. Apart from the various swimming races and teacher-student relays, the widely anticipated inter-house relays were also held during the day. In the end, Green House came first in the A-Grade inter-house relay race, along with Blue House taking the champion in the B-Grade and C-Grade races. As the inter-house relay race was heating up, the cheerleading teams of the four houses also cheered passionately for their respective house on the grandstand. After the teachers' evaluation, Yellow House had once again secured the championship in the cheerleading competition since Sports Day. As for the individual overall champions in A-grade, B-grade, and C-grade, they were taken by 6B Pan Xian Sheng, 2A Huo Shuang Yu, and 2E Chen Hong Jing respectively, all of whom are Green House members. As anticipated, the overall champion of this event was secured by Green House.
This Swimming Gala demonstrated the tenacious and unwavering sportsmanship of Sing Yin students. It also showcased the unity between the students of each house. We would like to congratulate all award-winning students and houses, and also thank for the tremendous contributions made by the teachers and staff in the Swimming Gala. We are looking forward to seeing students showcase their passion and achieve good results again at next year's Swimming Gala!
聖言先鋒就職典禮 The Sing Yin Pioneers Inauguration Ceremony
2023年9月22日，是一年一度的聖言先鋒就職典禮。在典禮開始前，郭鄭美玲副校長，便和我們講述聖言先鋒名字的意義。「先鋒」，即「pioneer」一詞，是校園內的導航者，也是中一同學的朋友。他們沒有學校「風紀」般的權威，也沒有令人難以接觸的距離感，只有滿對中一同學的關懷和熱情，承載著每個聖言學子都無法割捨的情誼。
就職典禮在此刻拉開了序幕，率先上場的是上年的聖言先鋒，他們身穿天藍色的先鋒制服，登上講台，與副校長和老師共同合影，留下他們曾是先鋒的影子。在此過後的，是新一屆的聖言先鋒，他們身著新一年的深綠色制服，代表著「生氣活潑」。在中一同學和老師的見證下，宣誓著自己在新學年的責任和義務，話音落下，交接儀式順利完成。
最後，希望在新一年中，先鋒能夠履行自己的承諾和對自己的身份負責，擔負起「導航者」的稱號，使「2023-2024年」成為中一同學最難以忘懷的一年。

聖言會創會紀念感恩禮儀 2023 Divine Word Missionaries Foundation Day Prayer Meeting 2023
聖言會於1875年9月8日聖母誕辰瞻禮日成立。為慶祝創會148周年，本校於9月7日舉行了創會紀念感恩禮儀，由澳門聖若瑟大學副教授聖言會範聖言神父 （Rev. Franz Gassner SVD）主禮，校監張明德神父及宋永恩神父共禮。全體師生到禮堂參與，共沐主恩。
在禮儀中，範神父指出同學在學校內學到很多不同的學科，如語文、數學、地理、歷史、科學等，而這些學科均與天父有著不同的關係，萬物是藉著祂而造成的。他提醒同學聖言就是耶穌基督的話，我們也應該常對人說著好的話，為人類帶來希望，向他人發放正能量。聖言會現有大約6000名傳教士及4000名傳教修女背負著傳教的使命，向世界80個不同國家及地區傳揚福音，說好的話。
另外，學校於9月4日開學日舉行開學祈禱禮儀，由校監張明德神父主禮。為配合今年學校的關注事項「天主教教育五大核心價值的實踐」，禮儀中特別選用了瑪竇福音「凡你們對我這些最小兄弟中的一個所做的，就是對我做的。」一節，提醒同學要對弱者施予關懷，活出仁愛的精神。
The Society of the Divine Word was founded on September 8, 1875, the feast day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To celebrate the 148th anniversary of the founding of the Society, a thanksgiving ceremony was held on September 7, officiated by Rev. Franz Gassner SVD, Associate Professor at University of St. Joseph in Macau, and co-celebrated by School Supervisors Fr. Johnson and Fr. Natalius. All pupils and teachers gathered in the hall to receive the blessings of God.
During the ceremony, Fr. Franz pointed out students learn many different subjects in school, such as language, mathematics, geography, history, science, etc., and that all these subjects have a different relationship with God, through whom all things are made. He reminded students that the Word is the word of Jesus Christ, and that we should always say good words to people, bring hope to mankind and spread positive energy to others. The Society of the Divine Word currently has about 6,000 missionaries and 4,000 missionary sisters who carry out the missionary duty of spreading the Gospel and saying what’s good and true in 80 different countries and regions in the world.
In addition, the school held a prayer on September 4, the first day of the school year, which was officiated by School Supervisor, Fr. Johnson. In line with one of the school's major concern this year, ""Putting the Five Core Values of Catholic Education into action"", the Gospel of Matthew, ""Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me"", was used in the prayer to remind the students of the importance of caring those in need and to live a spirit of love and benevolence.
